Taiwanese Heritage. Thai Terroir.
Northern Thailand’s modern oolong industry owes much to the Taiwanese families and producers who introduced their cultivars, processing techniques and tea-making knowledge to the region.
Our Red Oolong comes from one of our favourite artisans, a highly experienced producer with Taiwanese family heritage and a pioneering role in the development of Taiwanese-style tea production in Northern Thailand.
His approach combines established processing knowledge with a detailed understanding of local growing conditions.
Produced from the TTES No. 12 Jin Xuan cultivar, this 2026 Red Oolong is made in an open-leaf style rather than the tightly rolled form more commonly associated with Taiwanese oolongs.
The tea is deeply oxidised, with a rounded, mellow character, natural sweetness and a delicate, lingering finish. Its balance reflects both the quality of the leaf and the producer’s considerable processing experience.
We’ve selected this tea for limited pressing because it represents an important part of Northern Thailand’s tea story: Taiwanese craftsmanship adapted to Thai terroir.
An excellent choice for oolong enthusiasts interested in cultivar expression, processing styles and the development of Northern Thailand’s contemporary tea industry.

Pressed to Enjoy. Made to Share.
Each PRANIT tea cake is part of a limited production run, individually numbered and presented with a handmade Akha textile bag and complimentary tea cake knife.
Carefully separate a portion of the pressed leaves, brew in your favourite teapot or gaiwan, and enjoy the unfolding character of the tea through successive infusions.
A beautiful gift for a tea lover, a new way to explore familiar cultivars, or something special to keep for yourself.
Enjoy now or revisit over time. Store your cake in a cool, dry, clean environment, away from strong odours, direct sunlight and excessive humidity. Flavour and aroma may change during storage, although ageing does not guarantee improvement.
Every cake is an invitation to discover Northern Thailand, one infusion at a time.
Complimentary knife inclusion is subject to destination shipping restrictions.
